Fat grafting

Fat grafting es is a surgical procedure that increases the volume of a part of the body by using fat extracted from a donor site by liposuction. The fat is removed and then infiltrated elsewhere in the body after processing

What will I achieve with fat grafting?

Fat grafting obtains a lasting increase in volume, for example, of the breasts, buttocks, legs, face, or any other part of the body where it’s necessary. A frequent indication is the filling of depressed skin scars.

What does the operation involve?

Fat grafting can be performed under local or general anaesthesia, depending on the volume of liposuction and grafting necessary. In many cases, hospital admission is not required and the surgery is performed on an outpatient basis.
The extracted fat undergoes a “cleaning” process in which only the viable living adipose cells will be retained. The area to be treated is filled by infiltrating the processed fat through minimal incisions until the desired result is achieved. This means that fat grafting leaves virtually no visible scars.
Usually, one or two sessions are needed for cosmetic procedures and up to four or five sessions for more complex reconstruction surgery, so it is important to make a careful individual assessment of each case.

And after the operation?

In the immediate postoperative period, you will be prescribed prophylactic antibiotics and you should wear an elastic girdle for 10 days, or a bra in the case of breast filling. During this time you should take things easy.
